Aspiring to be an exceptional and forward thinking school, IICS recognizes that high quality teachers are the foundations upon which educational improvement is built. Therefore IICS is committed to the ongoing professional development of faculty.

Purposefully aligned professional development moves us personally and collectively closer to our goal of being an exceptional and forward thinking school community. The following are examples of personal and collective PD strategies that IICS encourages,

  • Being a learning-centred community
  • Working with colleagues as peer supports and mentors
  • Developing a personal professional development plan
  • Participation in online courses, presenting at conferences, workshops, etc.
  • Actively embracing growth mindsets about our personal and collective goals

Criteria Guidelines for PD Approval:

  1. PD connected to both personal professional and school goals.
  2. PD with direct impact on student learning that is both broad and deep.
  3. The equitable distribution of PD resources for greatest impact on student learning.
  4. PD that can be used to develop colleagues.
  5. PD that serves IB professional and institutional requirements.
  6. PD that addresses contractual agreements and obligations.

All participants will produce a blog post (300 words) about their PD for this site (must include a picture/graphic).

Applying for PD is a two stage process.  The first stage is getting Leadership Team approval, the second stage is budget availability confirmation.
